It's time to get back to SEWING !!!

Phew.  That's all I can say.

I've been crocheting for about 6 weeks now.  Not that I'm complaining.  I'm just saying.

Today I finally organized my sewing table, now with two machines on it, and it's calling out to me :-)

It's time to get back to sewing!!!!

A new sewing kit...

Since I have one blind eye, it's been difficult for me to thread a needle.  So, I decided to buy the simplest sewing kit possible, just to get the little needle threader that comes in the kit.  Kind of pathetic, since I have SO many sewing supplies.  However, as pathetic as it may be, it is also necessary.

My little birthday present to myself:

Five Miniatures

I had forgotten to post the outcome of my Miniature craze of the week.

The five little purses are for five special little girls.

They can be ordered for Bridesmaids, Bat Mitzvah Gifts, Confirmation Gifts and many more different occasions that call for a very unique gift that the recipient will be able to cherish.

Groovy Granny Squares Purse

After working so much on miniatures, I thought it was time to go back to some *normal* size yarn, i.e., 4-ply worsted weight 100% acryli, my very favorite yarn to work with.  It's versatile and lasts forever!

So, the Groovy Granny Square Purse was created.  It is just the beginning in a new line of colorful, hip and fun purses.

A new week... too many ideas !!!

It's already the 18th of July !!  EEEKKKK... time is just flying by and I seem to be in the midst of a creation boom, with not enough hours in the day to do everything that I want to do.

Today I'm going to continue with the Miniatures collections that I started last Thursday.

We'll see how much I can get done in the next 12, or so, hours.

The Weekend Fervor

I REALLY got into STITCHING this weekend.  I mean, I couldn't stop.  I was either stitching, or reading about stitching, or watching stitching videos.  My mind is swirling with so many new ideas.  I just hope that every day will be as productive as this weekend has been.

Here are some of my creations:

Tiny... miniature granny squares for a bookmarker.

Two little while purses, for some very special Little Princesses.  I still have to make the other ones for their other sisters.

I also experimented with other Amigurumi patterns, in preparation for making tons of miniatures !!!

MJ's blue jean bag

I was finally able to give MJ her new blue jean bag, lined with her favorite color fabric... PINK !!

The blue jean bag is made out of heavy-duty material.  The seams are all sewn using strong cotton thread with a 4X zig-zag stitch.  This means that the jean bag will hold up for many, many years to come!

This is the front of the bag:

This is the back of the bag, with a nice little pocket:

This is the inside of the bag.  The lining has many pockets for MJ to be able to carry all of her things!!

And this is MJ, with her new bag :-)

This style of blue jean bag can be ordered, with personalized names or initials.  The lining color can also be chosen, to make it very special for any girl.

Of Pincushions...

The other day I suddenly realized that I didn't own a pincusion.  It's bad enough that I went out and bought the very worst pins in the world when I was in Tel Aviv a few weeks ago (they are so thin and have a tiny head) and I was finding it very difficult to keep track of them when I was doing some repairs on the girls clothes.

So, in my Google-way, I did a search for *how to make a pincushion*... WOW !!

After the results came in, I started gathering up the supplies I needed for the first one.  I made a pincushion that was suppose to be worn on my left wrist, but I couldn't thread the sewing needle to sew the elastic strap on it.  The pincushion ended up being desktop and cute.

Then I started looking at the different empty glass jars I've been saving for some time and I decided to make a jar-top pincushion next.  Well, let me tell you, it's not easy to make something stick to the top of a glass jar.  I used every glue-product available until I found the good ol' white plastic glue of my youth.  It did the trick !!!  Everything stuck to the top of the glass jar.

Now I'm on a quest to make as many pincushions as I can possibly make, for gifts and sale.  They are so much fun to make and even more fun to get to the point where I can actually stick pins in them !!

I'll post lots of links to pincushion-making-sites in another blog post.
